Wow, now I feel totally weird. I get accused all the time of being unfeeling and thinking to much (offline). I feel your pain MJ. I'm a female INTJ. Women get slammed for feeling and not thinking, but if you are a thinking and less feeling women, you get called names. My daughters' have the same problem. The one at Amazon has more difficulties simply because of the international environment, but my prosecutor daughter thrives in her environment. VERY few women are prosecutors. It's an emotionally draining (the pictures of victims alone...OMG), incredibly fast paced, down-n-dirty form of litigation. The "f" word RINGS in the corridors, so softies just do not make it. A telling example was last Valentine's Day. Not one of the few women who work there received flowers. tee hee hee... raw meat perhaps....but no flowers. Razziel...THIS is an example of an off-topic post that might derail a thread. Sorry TD. I appreciate that you are trying to do your part.

I'm sorry I derailed your thread TD.
How is it derailed? The topic is introducing "girls" to engineering. The other posts addressed WHY we NEED to introduce girls to engineering in the US when, as docbob pointed out, other countries do not.

Oh well you know I learned on another thread on this board that men think and women feel.
Do you know what I learned on another thread? "All" the men are getting smart and leaving JWs, but the women are staying in. But that think/feel thing has me worried. As someone who "feels," how can I ever hope to compete against a male lawyer who "thinks?"

I find this bizarre. Why does it even matter that engineering is a male dominated field? Is this type of thing done for female dominated fields? I can't really imagine an 'Introduce a boy to hairdressing day' or an 'Introduce a boy to vet nursing day'
If in 2011 you find this "bizarre," there really isn't anything that anyone on this board can do to help you understand. : ) Additionally, I don't think you're that obtuse but were just baiting responses.
But why don't you ask TD? Apparently, he didn't realize that his daughter has the amazing opportunity to be a hairdresser.

I just finished some quick research and apparently, the US has a problem with both attracting and KEEPING women engineers. Women walk away from this career in high numbers. In response, companies have instituted 'family friendly' programs to help increase retention, but the programs aren't producing results.
Researchers think they have discovered why. The women weren't walking away because they couldn't balance their work/family life!!! They were walking away because they were putting up with crap from these engineering-type guys and getting paid less, and they were tired of dealing with the good ole' boy network that is still entrenched in these careers.
Isn't that classic though?! Women are quitting...oh...it must have something to do with babies...

My oldest daughter scored very high in engineering on her aptitude tests and completed all the college math requirements for the engineering program. At the last minute, she dropped engineering and went into accounting.
She incredibly disliked the male personalties in the classes and the instructors. She intuits math, and the male students were used to being the 'best' and 'smartest' and didn't respond well to a 'girl' who was inately better than them. She knew she was smart and didn't need to put up with their sh*t, so she left. I suspect THIS is the real problem with females and our science programs. The ones who can really 'make the grade' tell the pompous asses to kiss off, and they go elsewhere. That leaves only the marginal female candidates in the programs. (kinda like the KH)
Now she has an incredibly successful career at Amazon.com. because she can interface with the engineers (and put them in their place, even the German and Russian ones) as well as the accountants.

In his Will he left the land and house to his son, age 35, who is married and lives elsewhere in the same town, but also stipulated that his mother has the right to live in the house until she dies
Interpretation of estates is heavily state common law dependent, so you need to see a lawyer within your state.. However, it appears the deceased created what is called a " present life estate" for his wife and a "future reversionary interest" for the son. She has the right to live there until she dies, and the courts STRONGLY disapprove of anti-marriage clauses, so you are probably safe. These are two separate property interests. The son can devise his future interest but cannot access that interest until her death; then the property automatically reverts to him, and you, if you are still living there, will be deemed a trespasser.
I'm not sure what you mean by he has "stipulated" that his mother can live there. That is not his property right to "stipulate" to, but I might just be getting too legally semantic in my analysis because these are VERY pregnant legal terms of art. Bottom line: he has no possessory interest until she dies.

The UN is completely useless.
It sucks.
True that - but, then, I have yet to hear Obama speak up about Libya either. True that-but then Ron Paul, representing the Tea Party and promoting his book this morning on Good Morning America, didn't have the balls to "speak up about Libya either."

Unfortunately, I must agree with prior posters; only time will heal.
